Taking Care of Our Silk

Washing Silk
It is recommended that silk fabric be dry cleaned to maintain the original characteristics of the fabric. It can also be washed by hand with special care. In this case, the mildest soap is recommended. Only a small amount is needed, as silk resists soiling. Rinse the fabric in cold water as many times as necessary.
Never wring it. Never put silk in the washing machine because it will lose its original shape.

Hanging Silk
Silk should be hanged to dry in the shade, as strong sunshine can cause the fabric color to fade.

Ironing Silk
To iron silk, iron it on the wrong side just before it is dry, or put a damp cloth over the surface and iron it. For very crumpled silk, spray some water on the fabric. Put it in a plastic bag. Then put the plastic bag in the freezer for about 10 minutes. This way it will be easier to iron the fabric, as it will be thoroughly damp.
